Inside Our Tabletop Studio

Boardbuddyquivar.pics is an independent guide to making small tabletop objects read clearly in a photograph. The pieces are our subjects; image-making is the point.

A studio is a way of looking

You do not need a dedicated room to work deliberately. A stable table, a quiet surface and controllable light can be enough to explore composition, material and form.

Our lessons are written for hobby photographers, miniature painters, tabletop creators and anyone who wants a better record of the small things they make or collect.

We lead with arrangement because a readable structure survives changes in camera and lighting. More equipment cannot decide which object deserves attention.

What our directions aim to do

Every tutorial should tell you what to move and what to inspect afterward. “Improve the lighting” is not a useful instruction. “Move the source to one side until the reflection clears the card title” is something you can test.

Exposure values are examples rather than universal prescriptions. We distinguish documentary color from creative treatment, and we encourage original-file preservation and restrained editing. Generic components keep the attention on photographic decisions rather than a particular game's rules.

Independence and scope

This site is not affiliated with any game publisher or equipment manufacturer. Product and technical names, where mentioned, identify tools or concepts rather than endorsements. We do not offer gameplay advice, equipment repairs, legal advice or guaranteed photographic results.

Our tutorials describe general methods. Your camera, room, component finish and support equipment may require a different approach. Always prioritize the equipment manufacturer's safety instructions, especially when placing a camera or light over a subject.

Corrections make the guidance better

If an instruction is unclear, tell us which lesson you followed, what you changed and what happened in the saved frame. A precise report is more useful than a long equipment list. We welcome accessibility issues and factual corrections as well as setup questions.

The contact drafting tool helps you organize a message locally. It does not upload photographs or send a message automatically. Please do not include private information you would not want in ordinary email.

Make one deliberate change

Move a token. Square the camera. Shift the source. The next useful photograph starts with a decision you can explain.
